The Minnesota Senate is considering Republican-backed legislation billed as a Parents Bill of Rights.  The package is based on curriculum transparency legislation being considered across the country.  One bill authored by Republican candidate for governor Senator Paul Gazelka would require school districts to have procedures allowing parents to review instructional materials for free and on request.  Republican candidate for governor Senator Michelle Benson authored another bill that would require teachers to make class syllabi available electronically within the first two weeks of the term to students and parents.
