(St. Paul, MN) — Governor Tim Walz is authorizing Minnesota National Guard troops to provide security services in St. Paul. The response comes as the federal civil rights trial continues for three former Minneapolis police officers in connection with the death of George Floyd. Guard members will also be on alert to respond to Minneapolis if violence breaks out during protests of the police killing of Amir Locke. Locke was killed during a no-knock warrant raid seeking a different suspect when police say he pointed a gun at them.
