Today marks the start of Snowmobiling Safety Awareness Week in Minnesota.

Snowmobile enthusiasts are in the prime time for enjoying the state’s trails, but the D-N-R says safety needs to always ride along. Biggest reminders, stay on marked trails, be mindful of speed, be careful on the ice and of course don’t drink and ride.  This winter two snowmobile riders have died in crashes and several others have fallen through the ice. An average of seven riders per year have died in Minnesota over the past eight snowmobile seasons.
