(Minneapolis, MN) — The ‘Spoonbridge and Cherry’ fountain is going to lose its cherry for part of winter. The Walker Art Center announced Monday that the cherry will be temporarily removed from its base today to be repainted. The art center says due to the harsh winter in Minnesota, the cherry needs to be repainted once every ten years. The cherry is expected to return to the spoon by mid-January.
