To increase awareness and change dangerous driving behaviors, law enforcement agencies across Minnesota will begin a month-long extra distracted driving enforcement campaign starting today. Mike Hanson Office of Traffic Safety director says while many Minnesotans are doing their part behind the wheel, others continue to display dangerous driving behaviors:

“So we think the hands-free law that went into effect a couple of years ago is starting to really prove its merits and to be effective and drivers are disengaging those electronic devices.”

Hanson says distracted driving contributes to an average of 31 deaths and 192 life-changing injuries a year(2016-2020).
