The national average costs for long-term care in the United States is approximately $253 a day or $7,698 per month in a nursing home and $119 a day or $3,628 per month for care in an assisted living facility. Long-term care includes both medical and non-medical care to meet your health and personal needs. There are many ways to help cover the cost of this, which will be discussed Wednesday, September 18 from 1-2:30 pm at the VINE Adult Community Center.
VINE Faith in Action, a local non-profit aimed at assisting older adults in the community age successfully, will be hosting the Long-term Care Payment Options presentation. Robin Thompson, Information and Assistance Director or Senior LinkAge Line; Tami Simonsen, Financial Assistance Supervisor of Nicollet County Human Services; and Kari Arndt, LSW of Nicollet County Human Services will explain why it is important to plan for your future long-term care needs. You may need this kind of help as you grow older or have a chronic illness or disability. Attendees can expect to learn more about public and private options to help pay for long-term care services and supports. Questions are encouraged during the talk.
The event is free for VINE members and open to the public for $5. For more information or to register visit www.vinevolunteers.com or call (507) 387-1666.
