fall sports are near !!!!!

viking's 1st preseason game in friday night at tcf bank stadium....could be fun playing outdoors....but no A.P. at home does not seem right...i know it's the preseason....play a few plays at home and sit on the road.......vikings 20-oakland 17.....vikings are back sunday to msu....leave next thursday....


high school practices begin monday for all sports.....loyola football is already underway....crusaders open friday night, august 22nd on the fan, 7pm at loyola field.


state fair opens 2 weeks from today!!!

what a wonderful cruise 34 of us enjoyed from july 12-19...from seattle to juneau to skagway to ketchikan to victoria, british columbia...beautiful scenery, great people...the travel center knows how to put a trip together.....pictures  from alaska and seattle.....


back to work....vikings arrive on thursday.....

my wife kathy and i are hosting the travel center's alaska getaway....we fly into  seattle saturday morning...cruise the inland passage all week and fly back from seattle saturday night, july 19th....38 folks joining us...the travel center knows how to put a trip together....


i wrote last week that our nov.6-9th branson trip is over half-full.....5 tremendous shows...6 meals....daniel o'donnell's last year in branson for awhile.....he is taking 2015 off and possibly 2016 to be with his wife who is battling cancer.....join us....call 625-3153.....the travel center can make it happen.


will miss the all star game and all the festivities...the dvr is ready to tape everything.....good luck to brian dozier and justin morneau in homerun derby....glen perkins might get the save and kurt suzuki the winning hit......the A.L.  wins 6-4......


bw3 downtown closing on august 14th....oh no......a great restaurant to watch games...friday morning coffee (pop) with the guys....20 good years....

pitcher glen perkins and catcher kurt suzuki were named to the a.l. all star team sunday night.....former twin carlos gomez is a starter....pat neshek another former twin will be in the n.l. bullpen.....justin morneau will have to be voted in by the fans in the final 5 voting.....


if i were terry ryan...i would trade ricky nolasco, kevin correia, josh willingham and kendrys morales by july 31st for some young help......


our branson trip with the travel center nov. 6-9 is over half full.....daniel o'donnell's final year in branson for awhile...the irish singer is taking off the entire 2015 year from doing shows........might be back in 2016...his wife is battling cancer.

Minnesota State Unveils Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2014
Six Individuals Slated for Oct. 3 Induction; Men’s Basketball Team from 1975-76 Also to be Inducted and Schaffer and Philanthropic Award Recipients Announced

     Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Hall of Fame Selection Committee has announced that seven individuals have been selected for the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

The committee also announced its “team” inductee and this year’s service and philanthropic award recipients.

The new Hall of Fame members in the student-athlete category include men’s track & field stand-out Foster Dorsett (MSU 1972-76), women’s soccer icon Amber Dusosky (MSU 1999-2003), football All-American Jeff Spann (MSU 1985-87) and former men’s gymnastic great Bob Wuornos (MSU 1966-69, 1971-72).

Slated for induction in the builders category are former MSU men’s cross country/track & field coach Mark Schuck and Don Amiot, who served as men’s AD and Director of Athletics from 1988-2002.

Selected for induction in the “team” category is the men’s basketball team from 1975-76.

The Jim Schaffer Service Award will be presented to Jason Beal and this year’s MSU Athletics Philanthropic Award recipient is Radio Mankato.

The date for this year’s induction is Friday, Oct. 3 with the formal induction ceremony taking place at the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner held in the MSU CSU Ballroom. The MSU football team hosts Southwest Minnesota State Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the annual Homecoming Game and the inductees will be introduced at halftime.
