Mankato, Minnesota July 31, 2012

Get ready for the yard signs.  The local political season begins today, with the two week window for candidates to file for local offices beginning today.

Patty O'Connor, Blue Earth County Elections Director, says many of the smaller city and township clerks have other jobs so would-be candidates need to schedule an appointment to complete their filing.

Larger city candidate filings were in June.

The candidate filing window runs from 8:00am July 31 through 5:00pm August 14.  As candidate filings are received they will be added on the Minnesota Secretary of State website.
