Two Austin men are in custody following two separate assaults in Mankato.

In the first incident, the victim told police he was sitting in his car on the 1200 block of North Fourth Street when he was approached by two men who were looking for money. He was assaulted after he told them he didn’t have any.

About 30 minutes later, police responded to an assault complaint on the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Jordan Hernandez Cox, 21, and Jose Chavez, Jr., 20, were arrested near Janesville after a short car chase with a state trooper. Assault and robbery charges are pending in both incidents.
