Police were busy over homecoming weekend, with every officer on-duty.  There were 16 people taken to jail, 14 of them were alcohol-related criminal charges. 

 

That detox issue we’ve been hearing about from police was a problem again last weekend.  The Mankato Department of Public Safety took 28 intoxicated person calls, and 12 of them had to be driving to detox centers far from Mankato.

 

Deputy Director Matt Westermeyer, Mankato Department of Public Safety.  He tells KTOE News that 130 citations were issued for underage drinking… each results in a $177 dollar fine, or possible jail time if they go to court and lose.
