The Mankato-North Mankato area ranks among the top 20 in the nation for the highest home price increases in the 2nd Quarter House Price Index. 

The report by the Federal Housing Finance Agency ranks the Mankato-North Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area as 14th best, with a year-over-year house price increase of 3.70, down slightly from Q1, and still a little less than nine percent lower than five years ago.

Of the 13 metropolitan areas that had bigger house price increases than Mankato-North Mankato, nine saw increases of more than four or five percent, and the top ranked MSA was Phoenix-Mesa-Glendale Arizona with 5.98 percent increase. 

The index includes appraisal values used in refinanced mortgages as well as purchase prices.

No other Minnesota cities made the top 20.
