North Mankato City Council said last week that they would make a decision about the open City Manager position, one way or the other, at last night’s council meeting. Mayor Mark Dehen began the discussion by describing the process and applicant pool, and the qualities the city sought in a new city manager.
The Mayor and council member Bill Schindle last week indicated they supported choosing from among the three finalists… but last night the three remaining council members disagreed and said they wanted to re-open and broaden the search. Although there was no discussion last night about re-defining the qualifications they were seeking, at last week’s work session several council members said they wanted to see economic development and finance skills, not just organizational management.
