After days of heated debate, a Republican-controlled state Senate subcommittee headed by Waseca Republican Mike Parry has voted to reject two-year contracts for the state's two largest unions.
Union members packed the hearing room at the state capital and jeered and and booed when Parry announced the committee's 6 - 4 vote.
Republicans didn't like the proposed two-percent raise for employees represented by AFSCME and MAPE.
The issues are expected to be revisited by legislators during next year's session.
