The Blue Earth County Community Farm is having an open house Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a short program scheduled at 9:30 a.m.

The farm is a unique collaboration dedicated to growing fresh, local produce to help people in need.

County Commissioner Vance Stuehrenberg, who, along with Commissioner Will Purvis brought the idea of the farm to Blue Earth County, and partnered with Three Rivers RC&D to launch the farm.

This is the first harvest for the community farm, which is run entirely on volunteer energy and support from the community and area businesses, and Stuehrenberg says they've harvested one ton of fresh produce this first season.

Stuehrenberg says he hopes you’ll stop on out.
