The North Mankato City Council has scheduled a special workshop and brief city council meeting tonight to discuss and possibly take a vote on a candidate for the open City Manager job.  They could choose one of the three candidates chosen by a special committee brought together to screen candidates… but the council members may not all agree.

Acting North Mankato City Manager Mike Fischer talked with KTOE’s Pete Steiner on Talk of the Town and said for a position as important as City Manager the council would want consensus.   One city council member told KTOE News that anything could happen tonight, a candidate choice may be made, or the council could go so far as to start the search all over again.

The special workshop is scheduled to follow a budget workshop that begins at 5.  A city council meeting is scheduled following the special workshop.  If they do want to vote on a candidate it will happen then.  If not, the special city council meeting will be called and then adjourned with no actions.
