The Roundabout at Stadium Road and Victory Drive is a round-a-not-yet for now… it’s a little behind schedule… but it’s coming.

Blue Earth County Director of Public Works Alan Forsberg tells KTOE News that  partial opening of three of the legs in the roundabout should come by late September… and the last leg… the new Stadium Road in mid to late October.   Are we ready?

Forsberg says when the roundabout does open…it’s a pretty straightforward process, not so different from approaching a light.  If you need to make a right turn you'll get into the right lane.  If you need to go straight through, or make a left, you'll want the left lane.

For those of us who like the ease of green means go red means stop, merging in a roundabout is designed to be pretty easy. Forsberg says the tight curve of the roundabout slows traffic to about 15 miles per hour which makes merging easier.

The Director says they’ve gone to the Twin Cities to study how people adapt to new roundabouts… and if they can do it… so can we.

"We can do it better."  Forsberg says with a smile.
