The Mankato area State Patrol dispatch center is on target to eventually be shut down and merged as part of a plan to consolidate and save money.  The Minnesota State Patrol is preparing to close the dispatch center in St. Cloud on September 12 as the shut downs begin.  State Patrol spokesman Lieutenant Eric Roeske says the move takes advantage of technology and will save money.

Only the St. Cloud dispatch center will be moved to the Twin Cities on September 12th, and the troopers will stay in St. Cloud.   Roske says currently there are dispatch offices in each of the nine outstate patrol districts, including Mankato.   Eventually all of the districts will merge … but the general public should not notice any changes.

Roeske says the two regional dispatch centers will be located in Roseville and Rochester.
