The University of Minnesota and Minnesota State are working together to increase the number of students in nursing education programs. Minnesota State’s Valerie DeFor says they formed the Coalition for Nursing Equity and Excellence (CNEE) to address the state’s nursing shortage:
“And it’s growing and it needs to be dealt with. So the Minnesota State HealthForce Center of Excellence is just really pleased to be working with the University of Minnesota’s School of Nursing to really create a platform for all nursing schools in the state to collaborate to focus resources on this critical need.”
DeFor says there’s really good work being done in all of the state’s nursing programs and they hope to elevate and share best practices. State data suggest Minnesota will need 23 thousand new registered nurses in 2025 to address the shortage.
