The perennial debate over Minnesota’s estate tax has re-ignited at the legislature. Democratic Governor Tim Walz’s revenue commissioner, Robert Doty testified today (Tues) that Senate Republicans’ proposed changes would benefit the wealthiest Minnesotans:
…”allow a larger amount of the estate to go untaxed.”
But spokeswoman Kaytlin Bemis says Minnesota Farm Bureau supports Republicans’ proposed change to the estate tax:
“Estate taxes can be a barrier to passing down farms to future generations by draining the financial resources of farmers and ranchers.”
