A native of the Saint Paul suburb of Mahtomedi is believed to be one of the first U-S citizens to die in Russia’s war on Ukraine:
The Ukrainian government confirms 67-year-old Jimmy Hill was killed Wednesday in Chernihiv, a city about 80 miles from Kyiv that has been suffering “heavy artillery” attacks. Cheryl Hill Gordon posted on Facebook that her brother was killed while “waiting in a bread line with several other people when they were gunned down by Russian military snipers. His body was found in the street by the local police. ” Hill reportedly was gathering food for hospital patients. The Star Tribune reports his longtime partner, a native of Ukraine, was hospitalized with multiple sclerosis and too sick to leave, as were the other remaining patients.
