(Clay County, MN) — New data released shows that Minnesota issued a record-breaking number of permits to carry firearms last year. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued over 106-thousand permits to carry in 2021, the most since the passage of the state’s Personal Protection Act went into effect in 2003. Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, and Dakota counties issued the highest number of permits in 2021. Over 16-hundred permit requests were denied last year.
