There’s a plan to allow people in Minnesota to carry a digital version of their driver’s license on their phone. State Senator Karin Housley says the idea came to her after she lost her license at a hockey game and had to wait for a replacement. She wants the state to look into how to safely and securely allow people to carry a digital copy of their license. Her proposal would come with a study to be completed this year that lays-out the framework for moving toward digital drivers’ licenses. Housey says with so much on people’s phones, allowing for digital licenses is just one more step forward.
