Thanks to a Blue Earth County Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) grant, signage will be created and installed at Minnesota State University, Mankato to help remind students, staff and visitors that the campus is tobacco free.

The need for signage was identified as part of the University’s efforts to reduce tobacco use and exposure on campus. An updated tobacco free campus policy was recently adopted, and additional cessation resources are being offered. “This effort aligns with one of SHIP’s goals,” said Gretchen Mauerman, SHIP Coordinator, “to create healthier communities across Minnesota by reducing exposure to secondhand smoke.”

Minnesota State Mankato was awarded an amount not to exceed $9,800.00. SHIP grants are reimbursed to the recipient for expenses incurred and require the recipient to contribute resources of at least 10% of the total project amount.
