On October 8th, 2021 forty four year old Bryan Marconcini was found deceased by his girlfriend in his Mankato home.  Responding officers recognized the death as a possible drug overdose and contacted the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force to assist with the investigation.  The role of the Task Force was to attempt to identify who provided or sold the substance that led to Marconcini’s death.  The Ramsey County Medical Examiner ruled Marconcini’s death as mixed drug toxicity – Methamphetamine and Fentanyl.

Task Force Agents obtained numerous search warrants, conducted interviews, and reviewed surveillance footage.  Thirty eight year old Wade Wallace Woelfel was identified as a suspect.

On October 13th, 2021, Task Force Agents arrested Woelfel who had an outstanding felony warrant issued by the Department of Corrections for a previous drug conviction.  During the arrest, Woelfel was found to be in possession of controlled substances, to include trace amounts of a substance containing fentanyl.  Woelfel was ultimately sent back to prison for violating his conditions of release.

The results of the numerous cell phone and social media warrants confirmed that Woelfel was the person who provided Marconcini the fentanyl than caused his death.

On February 23, 2022, Wade Woelfel was charged in Blue Earth County for 3rd Degree Murder.  Woelfel remains in custody in MCF Moose Lake and will appear in Blue Earth County Court on the new charge at a later date.
