(St. Paul, MN)  —  Proposed state legislation is meant to make it easier for aspiring officers to get into law enforcement.  The DFL-sponsored bill would create expedited law enforcement training and education program through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.  The proposal includes free tuition, living expenses stipends, job placement assistance, Signing bonuses, and retention bonuses.  The Deputy DPS Commissioner says 25-percent of all police agencies currently have between ten and 15-percent of positions vacant.
