A Minnesota Senate committee is considering a bill to increase penalties on those who use stolen vehicles to commit violent crimes. Jeffs Potts with the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association supports the law change:
“These carjackings have been violent, very traumatic for those people that are involved in it… almost always include either actual weapon or the threat of use of a weapon, or fear of a physical assault.”
The Senate panel debated the proposal and will decide later whether to include it in larger crime-fighting package.
