(St. Paul, MN) — Details are being clarified about a snowmobile crash during the Minnesota United Snowmobilers Association Winter Rendezvous involving two Minnesota Senators. The crash happened February 4th, when DNR Enforcement Division Director Rodmen Smith says he was navigating a roadside ditch near Motley when Senator Jasinski failed to make a left turn and made contact with his vehicle, causing a chain reaction that ended with the Senator thrown from the vehicle into the ditch with Senator Mark Johnson’s snowmobile on top of him. Jasinski suffered a broken pelvis and is temporarily unable to walk. Early reports make no mention of Smith’s involvement in the crash, which he says he reported immediately. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation and says no one was tested for alcohol consumption because it is illegal to do so when there is no suspicion of drinking.
