Minnesota Farm families who have been operating a farm for at least 100 years can now apply to be recognized as a part of this year’s Century Farm program. Rachael Peterson with the Minnesota Farm Bureau says the application itself represents an opportunity to learn more about each individual farm.
“I get a lot of phone calls from those who are working on their application and it is really cool to hear from them what they learn about their family farms as they are doing this process.”
Applications are due by March 7th. The forms can be found on the Farm Bureau website or through the Minnesota State Fair.
Peterson says the application is simple to complete.
“First page is going to ask you the history of your farm, as far as who has owned it over the last 100 plus years, as well as where your farm is located. We don’t ask for any other additional information to be sent in. So you don’t have to send in like a 50 page abstract or anything.”
