“The defund the police movement and the anti-police rhetoric has really played a negative toll on police officers and police departments.”

The plan calls for $1 million for the Department of Public Safety to roll out a recruitment public service campaign. The plan also includes a bill that would provide $2.5 million in tuition reimbursements for recently licensed peace officers and those currently in the pipeline to become officers. Another bill would provide $20 million towards bonuses of up to $10,000 for newly hired peace officers across Minnesota.
