The Minnesota State Fair and Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation will once again honor the state’s Century Farms this year. Rachael Peterson with MFB says these are farms in continuous family ownership going back at least 100 years and their stories play a key role in the story of Minnesota.
“It is really a great way for us to recognize the importance and history of agriculture in Minnesota. A lot of people have ties to farming in minnesota maybe going back one generation or two generations. Being removed a couple of years.”
Peterson says even for those not still actively farming, the story of these century farms amplifies that shared history of agriculture.
