The state Revenue Department says it’s finished processing nearly 540-thousand tax returns affected when the state legislature exempted COVID unemployment insurance benefits from state income tax — and also federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans to businesses. Assistant Revenue Commissioner Sarah Bronson:
“We *are* through the big crunch and I think all I want to let taxpayers know is, if they feel that they should have gotten a refund and they haven’t heard from us yet, they can give us a call.”
That number is 651-296-3781. Again, 651-296-3781. Bronson says the state sent out over 300 million dollars in refunds or a reduction in taxes for taxpayers whose returns were affected by the law change, which didn’t come until after the tax filing deadline.
