A Shakopee man is facing multiple charges are leading authorities on a chase early Monday morning. Blue Earth County court records say 26 year old Gerardo Martinez Jr was charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, fleeing a peace officer by means other than a motor vehicle, DWI and fifth degree possession of drugs. Authorities say around 12:30 Monday morning, officers attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Martinez on Highway 60 but he refused to yield. The chase, which included speeds of up to 115 miles per hour, ended in Vernon Center after an officer executed a pit maneuver. The court report said Martinez attempted to flee on foot and was captured a short time later. Authorities say a passenger in the vehicle, 33 year old Michael Smith of Mankato, was charged with second degree possession of drugs.
