(Minneapolis, MN) — The first day of deliberations in the manslaughter trial of a former Brooklyn Center police officer charged with killing an unarmed Black man during a traffic stop has wrapped up without a verdict. The case was put into the hands of the jury yesterday after closing arguments were completed. Kim Potter faces manslaughter charges and could be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in prison if convicted. Potter maintains she shot Daunte Wright by accident when he resisted arrest. She says she mistook her service weapon for her Taser.
