It is officially the busiest time of the year for Minnesota Christmas Tree farmers. Mark Hansen runs Hansen’s Tree Farm in Ramsey and says he is the proud of the approach Minnesota growers take to their industry.
“It is much a craft as a production. You’re growing something the customer wants and appreciates.”
Hansen says Minnesota growers are also innovative.
“There’s been a lot of work done bringing in some of the firs from Europe and Asia. Korean fir, Turkish fir. We’re beginning to grow those, or cross breed them with our native species.”
Hansen says an uptick in customers last year may mean fewer trees this year, so the sooner you cut yours the better.
