Blue Earth County Public Works tackled one of its largest construction years in history this summer.  The weather was favorable for road construction, but lack of material availability caused some delays.

The following projects are complete and open to through traffic:

  • County Road 57 (N Riverfront Drive) at Highway 14
  • County Road 27 north of Highway 14
  • County Road 27 (Agency St) in Eagle Lake
  • Multiple paving projects throughout the County

County Road 82 (Victory Drive) is open to through traffic, but the permanent traffic signals have not been activated due to delay in material availability.  They are projected to be operational in late November or early December.

The County Road 7 bridge replacement project, south of Mapleton, will be complete as soon as the guardrail materials become available for installation. They are projected to be installed late November.

The County Road 1 (old Hwy 66) project is a two-year construction project.  Public Works had hoped to temporarily re-open the road with a gravel surface over the winter months, but for various reasons, that is no longer be an option. Mathiowetz Construction, the contractor, is planning to work until conditions are no longer fit which will not permit time to return the site to a suitable condition for the winter.  Supply issues have caused delays with the concrete pipe and manholes used for the stormwater drainage.  Through traffic is encouraged to use the posted detours along County Road 35, County Road 16 and County Road 90.
