The DNR’s Pat Rivers says the firearms deer season is big business in Minnesota.
“Retail sales exceed 850-million dollars per year and when you think about those small economies or towns throughout Minnesota that are dependent on tourism which deer hunting plays a big part of it. So we’re excited to see that blaze orange across the state and support those local economies.”
Rivers says in addition deer hunting supports around 11-thousand jobs across the state. Today is the firearms deer opener.
