The mass shooting in Saint Paul has re-ignited debate at the Minnesota Capitol.   Brainerd Lakes area Republican Senator and candidate for governor Paul Gazelka is calling for more police on the streets:

“Everybody wants to know that their kids can play outside in the yard and not worry about being shot.   Everybody wants to know that they can go out and socialize and not worry about somebody driving by and opening up fire.  We gotta get a handle on this.”

Saint Paul Democratic Senator Sandy Pappas, in whose district the mass shooting occurred, says we’ve tried more police and it hasn’t worked very well:

“The bottom line is, it’s too easy to get a gun — legally and illegally — and there’s too many guns in our society and there’s too many people making money off selling guns and weapons, and it has to stop.”
