Minnesota’s COVID case-positive rate, an key barometer of disease spread, is the highest it’s been this year at 7.6 percent and Minnesota’s infection rate is 8th-highest among all states. Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm was asked, is this the beginning of a major surge — or just a blip?
Malcolm says this wave is different from prior ones:
“We have not seen the sharp spike up, that kind of exponential growth rate that we saw in some of the other surges. But it’s been this steady, inexorable increase over a long period of time that is different about this wave.”
