The Republican Party of Minnesota has a new leader, the Central Committee this weekend electing former state Senator and Minority Leader David Hann as party chair to succeed Jennifer Carnahan, who resigned amid a scandal involving a major donor. Hann says Republicans need to have confidence that the party’s financial condition is not dire — which he says it isn’t:
“There are concerns, but there’s a lot of enthusiasm. I’ve been spending the last three or four weeks talking to hundreds of delegates, and the one thing I’m hearing a lot about is the optimism that Republicans have.”
Hann defeated three rivals for party chair, including Coon Rapids businessman Jerry Dettinger.
