A continued stretch of favorable weather has allowed crews to make good progress toward encircling the Greenwood wildfire in northeast Minnesota with containment lines.  Its western flank has been controlled for some time, crews are buttoning up the northern flank, and Information Officer Stefani Spencer says on the eastern side, heavy equipment got fire breaks in, all the way south on Stony River Grade:

“So that does really protect Isabella:  We’ve got that big shaded fuel break that was put into place specifically to protect everything east of the fire.”

Spencer says crews have also been concentrating on the fire’s southern flank, either side of Greenwood Lake’s northern shore.
