The latest report shows Minnesota has regained nearly two-thirds (64 percent)  of the jobs it rapidly lost at the onset of the COVID pandemic, from February through April of 2020.  Oriane Casale with the state Department of Employment and Economic Development says:

“We lost 416 thousand jobs just in that very short period, and to-date we’ve gained back 265-thousand-800 of those jobs.”

Casale adds:

“We have a way to go, but we’re definitely seeing strong growth every month here.”

Minnesota added 14-thousand-500 jobs in July, the largest monthly gain since March.  And the state’s unemployment rate dropped a tenth-of-a-point to 3.9 percent — compared to the U-S jobless rate of 5.4 percent.
