State health officials say based on information from the C-D-C, booster doses for the COVID vaccine should become available starting the week of September 20th.  They stress there is plenty of vaccine available.  State Health Department’s Kris Ehresmann:

“It ‘s important to keep in mind that not everyone who has been vaccinated would be indicated to receive a booster at the same time.”

Booster timing is expected to be eight months after a person receives their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.  Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says anyone who tries to get a booster early could actually do themselves a disservice by “essentially wasting protective time for the vaccine’s effectiveness.”
