Minnesota National Guard members are helping fight wildfires in Washington State.  The 10 soldiers and Blackhawk helicopter are from a Saint Cloud battalion commanded by Major Andrew Lang of Olivia, who’s also a state senator:

“Within the Guard we do missions like that quite a bit where we assist other states, whether we’re fighting floods, fires or maybe even a little search-and-rescue alongside.   We’re pretty busy with the state of Minnesota, and this just shows you that we do reach a little beyond that as well.”

Lang didn’t make the trip to Washington State, but his unit is providing medevac  (MED-evac) support to firefighters on the ground plus aerial fire suppression.
