Health officials say 90-percent of positive COVID-19 tests they studied contained the delta variant — enough samples to estimate it’s now the dominant strain in Minnesota.  The state’s case positive rate has now reached the five-percent caution threshold.  Governor Tim Walz says even though hospitalizations have tripled in recent weeks and are at their highest level since May…

…”still we’ve got a lot of space — unlike, just this statistic:   In the state of Arkansas, there are eight I-C-U beds available — in the state.”

But Walz doesn’t downplay the seriousness of the latest COVID surge.  He repeats the best way to tamp it down is for more Minnesotans to be vaccinated.  The state is around the 70-percent mark for those 16 and older.
