The national Unified Champion Schools program is helping bring together thousands of Minnesota students with and without disabilities to offer opportunities for students with special needs.

“The whole goal of the program is to educate, motivate and activate students to create inclusive school cultures within their school walls.”

Nick Cedergren with Unified Champion Schools says the program came about 14 years ago because there was a need to make schools more inclusive for students with disabilities. The program is possible through a partnership between local schools, the U-S Department of Education and the Special Olympics.
