Governor Tim Walz announced today that the federal government is providing disaster mitigation to states impacted by drought and fires.
“Looks like Minnesota’s share might be $17 million or so like that, we don’t quite understand what the ability to use that is, but what I would say is we are going to be informed of how we should use it by these conversations.”
Walz made the announcement during a virtual roundtable with farmers from across the state to discuss the impact of ongoing severe drought conditions. The latest U-S Drought Monitor shows 35 percent of the state is in ‘extreme’ drought and nearly 79 percent is in ‘severe’ drought.
