Environmentalists are praising Governor Tim Walz moving Minnesota toward California “clean car” standards by 2024.  Walz says it’s “simply re-establishing where we were already going” and sets a goal:

“And guess what?  In every single case our entrepeneurs, our industries figure out a way to get there.  They make it happen, and along the way they generate wealth, they generate jobs.”

Republican state Representative Josh Heintzeman from Nisswa responds:

“It’s bizarre to me that he would even say that, considering that this was nothing but a political move.  There was no free market.”

Auto Dealers Association President Scott Lambert says Minnesota doesn’t have an air quality problem like California and implementing those rules will drive up the price of all new cars.
