Greater Mankato Growth says the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced the 2020 Standards of Delineating Core Based Statistical Areas.  OMB’s 2020 Standards will maintain the threshold of the urban area population of 50,000. This means that the Mankato/North Mankato and 143 other Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) across the country will be preserved.

Federal funding eligibility for infrastructure, transportation, and other critical services to our region will be retained, while avoiding competition between larger and smaller communities. Also, economic development opportunities for the Mankato/North Mankato MSA will continue to be included in business databases that bring new investment.
