Activists at the State Capitol this afternoon (Wed) in support of State Representative John Thompson, who’s under fire for accusing a Saint Paul police officer of racially-profiling him during a traffic stop. Toshira Garraway Allen with “Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence”:
“We deserve an apology from the Saint Paul Police Department, and all of the rest of these departments that are involved in these murders.”
Representative Thompson was stopped for not having a front license plate. He gave the officer a Wisconsin driver’s license and the officer found that Thompson’s driving privileges had been revoked in Minnesota due to a child support issue. Thompson said that problem was minor and has been resolved. Thompson said he previously lived in Wisconsin and considered moving back to care for a family member, but has lived and worked in Saint Paul for many years and will now get a Minnesota drivers license, he says “as I should have before.”
