State lawmakers have finished their business for now, after a vote to adjourn the extended special session on the Senate floor Wednesday.

“That was probably the strangest end that I’ve ever been around, where Republicans wanted to confirm two commissioners that the Governor had and the Democrats would rather do sine die.”

Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka says that had the legislature not adjourned, the Commissioner of the DNR and head of the Animal Board of Health would have been confirmed. On Tuesday, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Commissioner Laura Bishop resigned ahead of an expected rejection by Senate Republicans.
